SilverStream Software announces support of open applications group

Membership Confirms Commitment to eBusiness Interoperability

Billerica, MA, July 26, 2000 - SilverStream Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SSSW), the eBusiness Platform Company, today announced that it has joined the Open Applications Group, and will support the Open Application Group Interface Specification (OAGIS) in xCommerce, SilverStream’s B2B integration product family. The xCommerce visual integration tools empower corporate developers and business analysts to rapidly define, build and deploy powerful B2B applications using XML. Trading partners using xCommerce will be able to integrate OAGIS XML transactions with a broad array of other XML exchange vocabularies, forge real-time connections to their enterprise applications and host legacy systems, and deploy their integration services using standards-based, J2EE application servers.

"The successful implementation of OAGIS specifications among trading partners requires world-class integration solutions,” said David Connelly, president, Open Applications Group. “We are pleased to have SilverStream Software’s technologies and expertise in the Open Applications Group consortium. SilverStream’s solutions will allow eBusiness customers to rapidly exploit the richness of OAGIS, providing interoperability with other XML vocabularies and speeding the integration of OAGIS standards across electronic trading communities.”

“To succeed in the emerging electronic marketplace, trading partners need integration solutions that can bring their eBusinesses online in Internet time,” said Fred Holahan, vice president and general manager of SilverStream’s B2B Solutions Division. "We are enthusiastically joining forces with the Open Applications Group to play an active role in the development and success of the OAGIS specifications. SilverStream xCommerce permits open, interoperable standards such as OAGIS to be used as the foundation of B2B transactions. And by deploying OAGIS-based integrations into popular J2EE application servers, xCommerce provides mission-critical B2B integrations with best-of-breed security, scalability and reliability.”

SilverStream xCommerce provides visual tools for integrating XML-formatted business transactions, trading partner agreements and partner interface processes.  The xCommerce Action Model interface allows business analysts to visually define and animate the processing rules, routing and integration services required to implement complex B2B applications. OAGIS-based customers benefit from substantial cost and time savings, real-time interoperability with legacy systems, and enterprise deployment features such as caching, connection pooling, load balancing and system failover.
