Compuware Strengthens End-to-End Integration Capabilities Through Membership in Open Applications Group

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--February 12, 2001--Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced that it has joined the Open Applications Group, the largest publisher of XML-based content for business software inter-operability. Compuware will fully support the Open Applications Group Interface Specification (OAGIS) in its B2B solution, UNIFACE Eight. By supporting the OAGIS messaging standard, Compuware will improve the end-to-end integration capabilities of its products by seamlessly integrating with industry standards.

Compuware currently provides integration over the Internet through innovative B2B messaging and middleware solutions.  For instance, the B2B Integration Editor in UNIFACE Eight simplifies the integration of enterprise applications at a B2B messaging level.  The Editor enables users to plug in connectors for any XML standard and helps developers create and integrate BizTalk, or any other user-defined XML messages. Adoption of the OAGIS messaging standard further extends the level of support UNIFACE Eight delivers, providing customers with immediate connectivity to other applications that adhere to any of the supported standards.  Additional standards will follow over time, as Compuware continues to enable organizations to support new technologies and new environments.

“The Open Applications Group common model enables a single mapping strategy for all multi-vendor implementations in the enterprise, making support and maintenance easier as technologies change, said Graham Berkeley, Director Product Management for E-Business Solutions, Compuware Corporation.  “Adoption of the Open Applications Group model will result in reduced time, cost and risk in integrating legacy or purchased applications because the interfaces will be exposed, documented and commonly supported. Compuware believes that it provides important value to its customers by adopting industry-standard, best practices-based models for interoperability.”

“The Open Applications Group provides a forum for Compuware and 79 other application vendors and large customers to interact with major stakeholders like customers, application vendors, technology vendors and systems integrators,” said David Connelly, CEO of the Open Applications Group.  “This enables Compuware to respond in an informed and coordinated manner to business and technology changes, which off-loads Compuware’s customers, who would otherwise have to worry about such issues themselves.  This is the value that the Open Applications Group brings--the bringing together of the industry to build and deploy a single digital dial tone for e-commerce.”

Compuware will also use its experience to actively contribute to the establishment and convergence of industry standards in the OAG workgroups.
