Wonderware® Introduces Avantis® EnterpriseIntegration Suite; New cAO
Component Leverages Canopy's Integration Framework
IRVINE, Calif., June 26, 2001 - Addressing the market need for true
plug-and-play B2B and enterprise application integration, Wonderware Corporation
today introduced its Avantis® Integration Suite software, which enables asset
management information to feed strategic business decisions and is a critical
new element to the company's previously announced collaborative asset
optimization (cAO) strategy.
The Avantis Integration Suite enables the rapid integration of key functional
components including e-commerce, plant floor data, enterprise resource planning
(ERP) and financial data. The suite is deployed on a system framework developed
by Canopy International, a Wonderware e-business solutions integrator. This
framework is B2B and application-to-application enabled, which allows Avantis
customers to enhance their business process simplicity, efficiency, and
automation.
Based on industry standards developed by the Open Applications Group (OAGI),
a prominent standards organization and leading publisher of XML content, the
Avantis Integration Suite provides reusable XML-based business process templates
to facilitate the transfer of information throughout the enterprise and between
trading partners, according to Carl Henning, senior vice president and general
manager of Wonderware's Avantis Operations.
"Many companies are mired in mazes of point-to-point application
interfaces that have been incrementally added to existing systems over time
simply to share information between various applications," Henning said.
"It takes an enormous amount of time and effort first to create and then to
maintain these interfaces - and the Avantis Integration Suite has been designed
specifically to solve these problems.
"This suite is the first deliverable in our cAO initiative and we view
cAO as the hub of the enterprise - transforming plant floor data into actionable
business information and simultaneously taking business information and bringing
it to wherever it may be needed on the plant floor."
"Although there are many ways to integrate systems, the model that is
required for e-business is one that is based on business processes; it has
become a strategic imperative because business processes will inevitably change
over time," said John Campbell, chief executive officer of Canopy
International. "The Avantis integration solution enabled by our framework
offers users a platform that can adapt to industry changes quickly, can improve
efficiency and can reduce e-business costs."
